Anderson<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nGreat news this week from the state Legislature and Coast Guard about the Point Memorial efforts. <\/p>\n<p>First, state Sen. President Therese Murray&#8217;s office said this morning it is actively working on a couple of key pursuits:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Trying to determine which entity actually owns\/control the property upon which the memorial sits &#8212; and then who should maintain it moving forward. <\/li>\n<li>Working with other local legislators and the Coast Guard to determine the process to declare as official heroes the three Coast Guardsmen who died. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A representative of state Rep. Vinny deMacedo last week said his office was exploring similar avenues and planned to be in touch with Sen. Murray&#8217;s staff.<\/p>\n<p>Meantime,  an official from Coast Guard District 1 in Boston said Tuesday he hopes to visit the memorial site this week and help determine what the Coast Guard could do to &#8220;to help distinguish the memorial better.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ll keep you up to date as we hear more. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Scott B.
