The memorial site is set to get a spring cleaning later this month from a group of Coast Guardsmen.

Aaron Wallace, a Coast Guard reservist who heads the town’s Office of Emergency Management, has organized fellow members of the local Chief Petty Officer’s Association to clean up the site and power-wash the monument on April 17. The group is also donating flags and USCG Memorial Markers.

Relatedly, Lou Cook from L.E. Cook Monuments in Plymouth has agreed to inspect the weathered bronze face of the 82-year-old monument and give advice on what would be necessary to more fully restore it.
